Make-Up Review: Dream Lumi by Maybelline in Radiant

A while back I bought some Urban Decay highlighting creme that I absolutely LOVE! But I don't love the price of $25. It's lasted me a while, but I needed to find something else that I loved just as much but didn't cost as much. I heard someone talking about the Dream Lumi a good bit on their blog, and decided to try it. At first I wasn't sold on it because it looks more like a concealer in the tube than it does a highlighter, but I was amazed with the look it gave me.

The product itself is the consistency of a liquid foundation, but comes in a click tube like a gloss. Three clicks at the bottom normally gives me the amount of product I need to apply to my face. I applied this on my T-Zone (above the eyebrows and on the bridge of my nose), Cheek bones, under, and above my lips. When putting it on, put it on right before you apply translucent powder or your foundation or blush will cover it and it won't give the proper affect. This can be found at any drugstore or Walmart or Target and it is only $8!!

Miley's New Do.

Okay, okay, okay. I know many of you have seen Miley's new haircut and I know that you all have your own opinions on it. And so do I. I wasn't going to share, but some of the comments have made me really upset and I just want to share my piece. Ok here's the cut.

Ok personally I don't like it IN THIS PICTURE. But if you see another picture of it like this one...
Or this one...

I think it's a pretty cute pixie cut. Which is exactly what Miley wanted. She even said in an interview "I have never felt more me! I love it!" And if it makes her feel good and it looks good when she fixes it, who are we to judge. We ALL have had that one cut that others didn't like, but what if we loved it?! I went through my pixie hair stage too and not many people liked it but I loved it!
Just so you all could see I really did do it and it's not that much different than what Miley has now, I just styled it differently.

You know what though. The problem I have is not really with the comments on her hair, it's the comments on her engagement. People all over social networks are saying "Thanks Miley! Liam will be on the market soon enough and I'll get my chance." and "Wonder how long until the engagement is off?" Number one the likely hood of you ever meeting Liam and falling madly in love are like one in a trillion. Number two if Liam truly loves Miley, a hair cut is not going to throw an engagement off. IT IS HAIR it will grow back, there are things called extensions, and it's not like she shaved her head (Sorry Britney).

I know we will all have opinions (and that is ok!), but remember she is a woman like you and if this makes her happy, so be it.

Brush Cleaner

The other day I was in Sephora and I was over looking at the brushes, while standing there I happened to see some brush shampoo that was anywhere from $6-25. It pained me to see how many people came by and bought some of this incredibly expensive brush cleaner and shampoo. I know that you don't need all that fancy shmancy stuff to efficiently clean your brushes. So here is a little tip on how to keep your brushes clean for less than $5.

Get some Johnson's Baby Shampoo (Walmart or any other store that carries such items) It's only about 98 cents. Use this every month or so to thoroughly clean your brushes. Mix some of the shampoo with warm water in a bowl then do one brush at a time and use your fingers to separate the bristles, but don't pull on them. If the water gets too murky then clean it and start again with your remaining brushes. This is sensitive enough on the bristles and won't irritate your face. Baby shampoo also works great as a makeup remover if you don't want to spend money on wipes or facial cleanser.

Then to keep your brushes clean in between the deep cleaning buy a spray bottle and some rubbing alcohol ($2 for both give or take a few cents). Combine one part rubbing alcohol with three parts water in the spray bottle and lay your brushes on a white towel or paper towel and spray the bristles well then rub them on the towel to get the excess makeup out and let air dry. The water will dilute the alcohol enough that it doesn't irritate your face, but will effectively clean your brushes.

So please before you go to some make up store and purchase a crazy expensive brush shampoo TRY THIS! It works I promise!

Fall Withdrawal...

I'm going through major fall withdrawal. I miss the scarves, cardigans, layering, and temperature. While talking to a few of my friends, I found I'm not the only one feeling this way. Today I put together an outfit that would help my withdrawal a little bit. Here it is.

So to help with this withdrawal I paired a lightweight V-neck (H&M) with a lightweight summery scarf (H&M). Add some jean shorts (Target) and some gladiator sandals (Marshall's) and you are ready to go. Another way to wear a scarf during the summer is with a tank and jeans or leggings. As long as it isn't a heavy weight scarf you can pull it off. Just make sure you are pairing it with obviously summer pieces like a lightweight tee or a tank top.

Make-Up Review: Maybelline New York Dream Nude Airfoam

On a recent trip to my hometown of Griffin, GA I was talking to a friend and she said she had tried a new foundation and absolutely loved it. Well of course I had to ask what this incredible foundation was and when she said the word airfoam, she lost me. I am not a fan of liquid foundation and I didn't quite think I'd like the idea of an airfoam foundation base. Upon further investigation at the store I fell in love with the product. Today was my first official use of it and I can't believe someone didn't think of this sooner!! It provides amazing coverage and it is weightless on your face. I HIGHLY recommend this makeup! Though I did add a little powder foundation to give it a more sunkissed look, it's not necessary. Also I had a recent breakout on my chin and I needed to use a little concealer on those areas because they were red and blotchy but for acne scars and normal blemishes this will cover nicely. Add a little blush and you are ready to go!

Welcome to Tickled Teal

Hello there. My name is Kaleigh Newby and I am a 19 year old who loves all things fashion. I am a make up artist for weddings alongside my friend Cayla. (facebook.com/cayladoeshair). Here I will be giving make up reviews, steals I've found in fashion, and anything that has to do with hair, makeup, clothes, and nails. I have a passion for beauty, and not just the beauty that's found on the outside. We don't need makeup or cool clothes, but they can make us feel better or worse about ourselves. I'm not here to help you impress anyone or become something you aren't, this is to inspire you to try things that are going to make you love yourself even more. We are all beautiful, but loving ourselves and sharing the beauty that is inside of us is most important, having a pretty face is just a plus.

The reason for my blog being named "Tickled Teal" is the simple fact that I absolutely adore the color teal and wanted to incorporate it into the blog title. It is a color that has been in for a while now but I fell in love with it even before then and I will continue to love it long after because it works for me and it is a happy color.

Have you ever wanted to try make up or another product that you have seen, but you can't bring yourself to buy it? Simply send me an email at kay2941@gmail.com of the product and where you saw it, I will do my best to buy it and try it and let you know through this blog what I thought of it, as long as it isn't way too expensive.

Well that concludes my introduction and I hope you enjoy this blog. If there is anything you would like to see more or less of, please feel free to let me know.

:)
